Greetings @lashu, and a heartfelt welcome to Connect. It looks like you are starting right out by sharing your "medication" conflict. This forum welcomes and supports sharing as a way to learn more about your condition and the programs/treatments that others have found successful.
I realize it is a bit difficult to tell the entire story in an opening post, so forgive me for asking for a bit more. For example, can you please share more about your current situation and the identified problem with medication conflicts?
Do you have osteoporosis or just osteopenia? Have you had the Dexa scan tests? What did you learn from them?
Does your statement mean that the osteoporosis medications that are prescribed for others cannot be prescribed for you? Or do you mean that the prescriptions for your other problems cannot be used for your osteoporosis? I am a bit confused.
Have you discussed this situation with a medical professional, particularly an endocrinologist? I have learned a great deal from my Mayo Clinic endocrinologist. Although I was a bit leery about his recommendation, I did trust him and trust is so important between the patient and his/her clinician. It's been one year this month and I have not had any issues or side effects.
I look forward to reading a bit more about your situation and I stand ready to assist you in any way possible.
May you be safe, protected, and free of inner and outer harm.
Chris
With these conditions, it seems possible that insurance would cover Tymlos or Forteo. These are bone building anabolics that do not affect jaw or esophagus. You inject them daily at home.
Both Tymlos and Forteo are excluded because of the history of sarcoma that I have: in 1983 a soft tissue sarcoma that reappeared in 2004. The endocrinologist I consulted with is looking into Evenity but is concerned about its cost.
Thank you for your attention: perhaps the answers I sent to @windyshores will be available for you: also, I had the Dexa scan it shows osteoporosis and osteopenia: the latter, I think, was in the left hip(the right hip has a replacement that is 16 years old, they cannot scan it/titanium); the spine's lower part has bone loss that I think was osteoporosis: I'll double check my chart.
@lashu I am sorry about the sarcoma (I had stage 1 breast cancer and had some concerns about stage 4 being initiated or accelerated).
Amgen, the maker of Evenity, does have some financial assistance through foundations so it might be worth a call. But if your spinal score is under -3.0 or so maybe bisphosphonates are the way to go. Your doc knows best!
A bit over the negative three. The meds with the bisphosphonates are out: long term infections in jaw along with floating jaw, molars that needed and others that might need removing. Have had no plaque, no cavities, etc for years now but past work showed long term gum infection.
Esophagus excluded the other options.
My endicronologist is looking into options.
Thank you for your concern and attention.
