Thank you Alyce...I much appreciate your comments. I am very aware of the things you mention...I am convinced that there are only two things that help erase arthritic pain...steroids injections and pain killers. The injections can work in specific spots , but when your arthritis is almost everywhere, it's virtually impossible to have enough effective steroid injections. In terms of pain killers, many doctors are hesitant to prescribe opioid medicine because of their side effects. Personally, I think the side effects are worth tolerating because they work very well on pain. The Governor of Massachusetts, where I live, has started a War Against Drugs and he doesn't seem to care about those of us that have to use pain killer drugs because of our pain. He has made life pretty difficult for many people in our state.
Hi @sylviann, and welcome to Connect. I'm Alyse, and I'm one of the community moderators here. I'm sorry to hear about your pain, and imagine it is very frustrating not being able to relieve it.
I found some information about osteoarthritis treatments that might be helpful to talk to your doctor about (http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/osteoarthritis/basics/treatment/con-20014749), as well as some information on home remedies and treatments that may help to relieve some of your pain (http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/osteoarthritis/basics/lifestyle-home-remedies/con-20014749).
Have you talked to your doctor about different methods of treatments? Or have you tried anything at home to help manage the pain?
I'm going to connect you with @sherrymalovich and @motormom - both who wrote about their experiences with pain due to osteoarthritis.
