My path report say invasive ductal carcinoma with apocrine features. Does anyone know what this might mean?

Thanks for your comment. I'm not familiar with oncotype scoring so that is another thing I can look up. I'm glad if you're not having to go through chemo unnecessarily. I assume your lymph nodes were clear of cancer cells?

Oh, I see that the breast recurrence scoring is only used with hormone positive cancers. Still a great tool, even if it can't be used for me. Thanks again.

Thank you. Yes, I had clear lymph nodes. The oncotype is a test that they do on your tumor after surgery that can determine whether chemo will help or not, and your chance of recurrence. That also helps to determine whether or not you need chemo. @mkb4435

I had invasive ductal carcinoma with apocrine features. I was stage 1A, hormone positive, her 2 negative and had a bilateral mastectomy in January of this year. The oncotype score showed that chemo would only benefit me less than 1% so I only have to take an AI. @mkb4435

I was at stage 2. Chemo was not an option for me either in the beginning because of my oncotype score was low to medium risk. So I did radiation and Al for 5 to 7 years. Aug will be 1 year.

@chickenmom10 which AI are you on? I’m on Letrozole since March 31st. Have you had any side affects? Hair thinning, insomnia, hot flashes?

REPLY

I am on anastrozole. I have had headaches, and hair thinning, I just started with the hot flashes only at night since I opt to take that the pill after dinner. Fatigue usually happens in a few hours. Otherwise I have been good.

I have started to have heart and didn’t make the connection. I take mine at 7 pm and have hot flashes as well. Are you taking or doing anything for hair thinning? Also, what did they tell you about apocrine features? Thanks!
