I had my last visit to the surgeon in mid May. He said that full recovery would take 18-24 months and that I was doing better than expected. I am walking almost completely normally now and I can manage the type of pain I am experiencing in my thigh. If it takes nearly two years for everything to settle down then I will just wait to see what happens. I have a follow-up a year from now and if it still bothers me I will most certainly bring it up. Thanks for the info.

Hello,
Your surgeon is right on the mark with that timeline. I was in full recovery from a double hip replacement at about 18 months. I was starting to feel great and then the knees went bad and now I'm recovering from having 2 tkr in 10 weeks. I told my surgeon this better be it for awhile. Lol .. 4 joint replacements in 2 1/2 years is enough for me. I'm 54 years old and I have been dealing with OA for 7 years now. Hopefully after the knees heal I will have my life back.

GOOD, I am glad the doctor is pleased with your progress. Yes it was about 2 years after surgery that my friend could not get rid of that hip pain so that was when they found the impingement from the new hip mechanism rubbing against the tendon or ligament in the area of the pain. I sure hope this is not the case for you and that your recovery is smooth. My brother Mike just had hip replacement and a week after he was playing pool and taking orders for new home repair jobs, which is his retirement hobby. I worry that he is overdoing it but I guess his only symptom is getting tired more easily. I hope your recovery is as fast at Mike's.
