Anyone here diagnosed with LMS? I don’t think there’s even a specialist in arizona that is working on it. I am stage one. Having to do radiation treatments soon. Already had 3 surgeries in 5 months.

I have LMS. I’m stage I had one surgery in 2020. Abrasion on the liver, chemo in 2021, now I 2023 it came back again in my lungs. Doing radiation and a chemo pill…

Thank you for sharing. I have the option of chemo or radiation to start. Are you able to work?

I’m retired and don’t work outside the home… doing radiation right now. I had chemo and will be taking chemo pills after radiation but I haven’t been sick or nauseous. Hope all is going well with you.

You should be able to work. I feel good except for I have this LMS. It’s been three years. You got this, you will do good! Stay strong mind and body!

Yes I had leiomyosarcoma ...there was a very small bump above my knee. looked it up on internet and because I met all the criteria (female over 50) I knew immediately what it was.
Went to Dr. and he suggested that I have radiation before I have it surgically removed. He said it is best to do it that way as you want to kill off the small fingerlings surrounding the tumor before you remove it.
I had it removed in 2018. Since then I have had follow up scans and no return of the cancer.

He was the best doctor and so grateful God led me to him.
He has now retired.

Dr. Monson told me chemo does not treat a sarcoma cancer. My mother also had a sarcoma many years ago and all they could do at the time was remove it.. I was a child but I don't think she had radiation.

I would get radiation before they remove it if you have that option.

Is Dr. Monsoon the retired Dr?

Hi...I too have LMS, was found 2 years ago in my IVC vein, stage 2. Did surgery to remove it and right kidney. It has now returned to my liver and lung now at stage 4. Dr. reviewing options of liver surgery and then follow-up with chemo. Its best to find a specialist who has experience with this type of cancer. Wishing you well...

@azhazhotpets Since you are looking for a physician who specializes in LMS, I’m wondering if your doctor will make a referral to Mayo Clinic in Arizona.

There are also hospitals and physicians in Arizona who are affiliated with Mayo through the Mayo Network. Here is a link to read about it and to see if there is a clinic near you.

Have you or your doctor been in contact with Mayo Clinic or the Mayo Network?

My husband was diagnosed with stomach leiomyosarcoma (stage 1) in March 2023.....we do not live in the USA...but we were able to have a virtual meeting with a Sarcoma specialist in the states...there is some confusion about the dose of doxorubicin (adriamycin) he should receive...

Anyone here had this drug as one of their chemo drugs? Do you know what dose of it you were given?
