Yes. I believe they are developing or have developed an artificial kidney in San Francisco. I'd be interested in learning more as my nephrologist feels I never would be a candidate for the transplant list.

Hello,
For the bioartificial kidney, created at UCSF, go to "kidney project". Select contact us, complete the form. This will be how they contact you when it will be ready. It will be available to all who need it and will be available at your medical facility. No antirejection meds required and best of all, no fluid restriction! I read the clinical trials will be 2019/2020.

I am planning to exercise and try to keep mysevlf in decent shape for the surgery. By the way, the bioartificial kidney is placed in a patient's lower front abdomen, just like a normal transplant, not your back.
