You and your son will be in my prayers for strength and healing. Caregiving can be so draining. Be good to yourself and take care of yourself- even if it means saying "No, I can't do this (or that) today. Let me help find another pair of hands to take my place until I feel stronger again."
If we become ill due to putting all of our best energies into caregiving, we risk not being able to help at all! Please permit me to share words that have given me strength over the years. It doesn't matter what religion you may be, these truths will be there for you: Jesus told the people, "Come to me, all ye who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. My yoke is easy, and my burden is light." (Matt 11,) and "Cast your burdens upon the Lord and He will sustain you." Let go, my friend, and let God take the weight from your shoulders and heart. Slowly make your way back to caring for others. This difficult time you are in will pass as all things pass. Find little hopeful, happy things in every day to offset the negative. For me, it's being in my little garden where fat little pea pods are growing on a vine, tomato plants have bright yellow flowers that will soon turn to little green tomatoes and a button -eyed squirrel is having a lunch of nuts at a ground feeder. Nearby, hummingbirds vie for spots to drink nectar from a red hanging feeder they have returned to for many years each summer. Pain, exhaustion- yes- still there, but nature has provided this distractions as soothing balm. Yours may be different, but it is there waiting to help you through.
'Sorry if I've gone on- it's just that my long, often difficult life has given me truths to share with those who may benefit from my understanding. Blessings, Sandra
