I would love to hear your experience with your hiatal hernia repair and LINX . The GI Surgeon I met with said he was not a fan of the LINX procedure and had had to take them out of patients that had come to him. I have great hesitation about the Fundoplication procedure. Where are you having your procedure?
Good luck!
I had my procedure done in September 2018. It was a total success! I haven’t had to take as much as one Tums since. No problems at all. Two endoscopies since.
I was having reflux 84 times a day. I went to USC and my doctor was Dr. Lipham. See YouTube for more info on him and the procedure.
I would not do the Nissan Fundiplication on a bet.
I understand that the Linx device implanted for GERD was recalled. I am not sure when this occurred but would like to know if the recall is still in place. Did the recall include ALL of the devices manufactured up to the time it was issued? If so, any information about the status?
Is the procedure still being performed? At Mayo?
I thought chest pain was caused by Linx but turned out it stopped working and now have ulcers and stage 3 esophagitis and back on PPI's to heal. Have surgery at Mayo in Phoenix August 3rd to have it removed. Surgeon said she could replace or do fundoplication but think I'll take a break and see what happens.
Actually, not really. It’s really been amazing for me. I had terrible GERD back then, eating anything, drinking water. It cured it 100% and I went off meds. In the later years, including now, not sure when it started, sometimes I feel I can’t clear my throat, however, I don’t have to attempt to and no pain or anything. So not really a big deal. What I will say to anyone thinking of the procedure, is to really consider if you might ever need an MRI. LINX procedure on or before 5/22/15 you can only have an MRI with 0.7T (Tesla, no, not the car), strength of magnet. After that date, it was possible to get the device that works with a 1.5T MRI. My problem now is I need an MRI for my wrist. You can’t find 0.7T anymore. All the imaging companies have upgraded, I actually think they are now at 7T. So even getting the LINX procedure now you risk not being able to find 1.5T facilities very shortly. 3T seems very common now. So, I’m screwed. I have to figure out what to do.
