Is messaging through the patient portal different than calling the reception at the nephrology department? At other hospitals I’ve been too those go to the same people

If you call, you will talk to one person and get their immediate response. Written messages through the portal will go to the “team” you are assigned to. Typically a couple docs/nurses will review and determine a best response. I think you get more complete answers if they are able to discuss and think about it.
