Nausea from Tymlos

I have been encouraged to keep injecting Tymlos because my osteoporosis is pretty bad. However, I have been on it for several months now, and am still having nausea for at least two hours after I inject it. I am worried that having this kind of persistent side effect means I shouldn't be on this drug, but my rheumatologist tells me I shouldn't be concerned. It is, however, taking my Tymlos has become a dreaded daily event. Has anyone had this kind of experience with a persistent side effect from Tymlos? And any suggestions? Anti-nausea drugs like Zofran tend to knock me out or make me woozier!

I have severe osteoporosis with 3 spontaneous fractures in 1 year. 2 of those fractures required surgery in March of this year. In addition, I fractured my femur in 2022 due to a ground level fall. I was on Fosamax for a number of years followed by 5 years of Reclast. I started Prolia in 2021. Since my fractures have occurred while on Prolia I am going to start Tymlos. I’m so afraid of another fracture that I’m willing to deal with the side effects. I’m a bit concerned about the nausea side effect as I always have a bit of nausea due to IBS and take Zofran as needed. Will discuss Tymlos dose/timing with my new osteoporosis specialist.

I just want to make clear that doctors don't suggest the ramping up with Tymlos or the reduced dose, and probably won't write an order for it. That is because studies done by the manufacturer were done with a full dose. That said, when I told my endocrinologist my plan to ramp up (after being in the hospital after trying full dose) he fully approved and when I could only do 6 or 7 "clicks" ultimately has also approved of that. Docs need to prescribe 80mcg but it is up to us how we use it, while telling our docs of course.
