Signs and symptoms included a bit of diarrhea, constant steatorrhea, stool color much lighter than usual, intermittant upper abdominal pain, some high back pain, very dark colored urine. I had a small diameter temporary plastic stent placed in my lower common bile duct that improved things initially, but slowly became occluded. One week ago it was replaced with a much larger diameter, uncovered, metal mesh stent as I begin chemotherapy. Over the course of several days, the larger stent resulted in my urine color to return to normal color and fecal color to return to near normal without diahrrea or steatorrhea. Now I have a few days of respite before my first chemo infusion. Let the games begin! Bring it!

How are you doing after chemo? Did you have any other treatment? I am writing for a friend who has had a stent before chemo, and who started having intermittent crampy abdominal pain after his 6th cycle. His oncology doctor isn't able to offer him any management for this pain. He hopes to undergo his 9th chemo cycle next week. He has asked to be referred for evaluation of this pain. He was hospitalized a few days ago for sepsis. No changes in urine or feces.
