Interested to know effectiveness of Tramadol for pain management and any benefits/concerns. My doctor has recommended it.

This was exactly my experience. Tylenol as really useless I had TKR end Jan. Didn’t feel I need Oxycodone after 2 weeks but needed more than Tylenol. Tramadol fit the bill right. Didn’t need it all the time but took it when I did. After 3 weeks I again didn’t feel I needed an opioid but couldn’t find a reasonable pain med. I can’t take anything with ASA. I tried the Kirkland Muscle & Back Pain Relief (Costco) which is a combination of acetaminophen & methocarbanol. It worked great and I continue to use it rarely if I need pain meds.

So that is over the counter at Costco? Interesting! Glad it helps you and I may try it. Thank you.

Yes it’s in their drugstore section. Sells 2 large bottles to a pack (at least in Canada) and it’s very inexpensive. As with all meds, just watch not to take too much acetaminophen but that’s clearly outlined on the bottle. I just tried it on a whim cause I hated taking Tramadol when I didn’t feel I needed it and out of concern for it’s habit-forming but couldn’t find anything that worked and didn’t have asa so thought I’d give it a try. Pleasant surprise. Hope it might be helpful to you too.

Hmmm…not sure where you were able to purchase the Kirkland muscle pain and back pain medication, but methocarbamol is a prescription muscle relaxant and the medication is not available OTC at Cosco online or in a USA Cosco store.

I just saw it on eBay. Apparently Costco does not have it.

My doctor recommended Tramadol after TKR instead of oxy, well I tried Tramadol and hated it . I felt so drugged and just off , also it did nothing for the pain. I found using oxy only as prescribed is what helped me. I used the Tramadol for 4 days and boy did it make me feel off. I stopped right then and there, I told doctor I wanted the oxy and thank god I did and he listened

Tramadol, oxy, hydrocodiene & any other pain killer never helped but made me itch & dizzy. So I was able to get a medical marijuana card. I just take 10 mg at night to sleep. 100% better for pain & sleep. I use CBD cream during the day but would like to try the THC cream.

I had a TKR in 2019 and I still have left leg issues of numbness and zingers once in awhile. I have been on Tramadol since then, having had oxy, hydro directly after surgery. ( my surgery had many complications including infection) I am now on tramadol, Tylenol, Gabapentin, and Cymbalta for my TKR, arthritis in my other knee and scoliosis, spinal stenosis and disc degeneration. My “Pain Doc” is trying now to wean me off Tramadol; it is a Schedule 4 drug here in Wisconsin , a synthetic opioid if you will. I do feel normal and almost painless taking it, but if I miss a dose I really feel it in the pain department. I am what they term “dependent “ not addicted. I understand there will be a non opioid drug to replace the Tramadol. I hope this helps clarify it for someone.

I'd personally not buy any medications on EBay or any other non-licensed, non-pharmaceutical online retailer out of concerns they might be fake or contaminated or compromised in some other way. Counterfeit, sometimes fentanyl-laced drugs are increasingly entering the U.S. medicinal supply chain through illegitimate means and sometimes causing serious harm to people. I wonder whether it's legal to sell drugs on EBay, but even if it were, I'd still be concerned.

I totally agree with you. I have been buying products from EBAY for decades. I purchase omeprazole every few months from a seller that has a high rating. But you make an excellent point.

Had right TKR in Feb of 2023, all I used was Tylenol.
Had no issues with pain at all.
Hope the left knee is that good when done in Late Oct or November.
