Chronic Pain, alternative Treatment

Posted by CiPaul @cipaul, Jul 11, 2017

I have had chronic pain for 17 years. I know what I'm going to say will be met with doubt, but please try what I say, even though it is not completely backed up by sceince. I was on heavy doses of OPIOIDS for 16 years with no help, relieveing my pain, then I started to take Kratom, for the last year I have been Pain Free!!! If you try it , you will have to try different strains, to find out what works best for you

How do blueberries help? How many how often. Will it help chronic pain? Do you make your own tea? How long have you been using berries and tea?

I love blueberries too and knew they were good for you but didn't realize how good they are for you. Heading to the market now! 🙃

Hope it works for you...I am though strong believer that Overall Lifestyle that ensures wholesome nutrition, physical exertion (on my way back from grocery shopping reaching my building I continued walking six more floors with 10 lb potato bag in one hand and four lbs in another, and began panting for the last three floors. Why? To get some challenge to my 8 decade old body that has been in 'working condition' without and meds and tests and surgeries. Had a brief anxiety attack some ten years ago (for valid reasons IMO) and did not have to use med but asked for it in case I get it again. But doc had explained How I might get thru it: CBT. It worked. I think nature is charitable--especially when WE take care of our body's needs for play, human connection, intellectual/brain stimulating activities, and restful sleep. Mayo actually has a short aricle about seven ways to keep in good condition.
Cheers!

Hello @sisyphus - I like this. Such a positive, helpful and well articulated perspective. Thank you for sharing what helps you. You are inspirational!

I found the article from Mayo that you are referring to:

Mayo Clinic - 7 tips to live a happier life -
https://www.mayoclinichealthsystem.org/hometown-health/speaking-of-health/7-tips-to-live-a-happier-life
Following CBT has helped me tremendously, along with lifestyle changes all of which I learned from time spent at the Mayo Clinic Pain Rehabilitation Center.

How long would you say you have been following an 'Overall Lifestyle' ?

Yes, blueberries! I'm a firm believer in blueberries, as well, and always have them in my fridge. For years I never ate them until I had chronic pain and realized their anti-inflammatory benefits. Like @sisyphus says, "overall lifestyle"...it can works wonders.

I have read that one cup of fresh or frozen blueberries a day also really help the health of your liver. I am concerned about my liver because I take 3,000mg of tylenol a day for my muscle and joint pain. I got this information from a Dr. Gregor who has a plant based diet web site.
Good luck all
so glad that we can share advice !

What I think is true of 'healthy lifestyle' is that it's Not something that you have to prepare or make an item in 'to do list' it's what we mostly predisposed toward. Even toddlers would spit out something that tastes or smells bad, often a sign it's not good for you. Sure as we grow we learn more about specifics but I have never known a baby who needed a pediatrician to teach how to stand! And soon the little one is running and climbing and jumping and Inventing games to play. as Brian Pronger, author of Body Fascism, says that in today's world: The impetus to move comes not from the infinity that the body is but from the finitude that it is not.
But that's just the physical aspect of our healthful development. As newborns, we find life immensely attractive so we poke, and drop and smash and touch even taste and try to eat, soon learning what is edible and what's not. So, Rachel, I think nature has done a pretty darn good job of keeping us on track that leads to healthy lifestyle. We may sometimes forget or ignore even believe in misinformation (and placebos) but if we also have others to test our assumptions we end up not too far from what is good for our bodies and psyches.

In fact on an episode of "To catch a smuggler" on National Geographic, they intercepted a shipment of powdered Kratom and the agents said that is what they give to people who are trying to get off opiods as to not suffer withdrawals. The said it's legal to have but it is illegal to import or export.
