I have a tortuous redundant colon and suffer all of the symptoms that go with it. My GI has me eating a high fiber diet, and taking 2 or more Metamucil capsules each day. I take them first thing in the morning with a big glass of water. Then drink a slow cup of coffee. It has been working! I have to get up early to make this happen as I am a teacher and need to be at work by 7:30 each day. But it’s worth it!

I also have a tortuous redundant colon and it's interesting that your GI told you to eat a high fiber diet and Metamucil each day. My GI said no Metamucil, take Miralax. I have also been doing some reading and read that for this colon issue, not to eat high fiber or take Metamucil, that the fiber and Metamucil will only bulk up the stool in the colon making it harder to pass through and make constipation worse. It is really confusing, all the conflicting information that is out there but I think it's great that it works for you. Everyone is different and there isn't a one size fits all remedy. I'm going to keep this on the radar!

I was also recently diagnosed with redundant colon. I was given Linzess by Gastro, but after a few months stopped taking it - was losing too much weight. Not I take one 400 mg Magnesium pill each night, miralax with coffee every morning, eating more fiber and occasionally have to complement this protocol with stool softener if warm prune juice does not do the trick. It's is usually my first go-to. This has helped. Am also doing low fodmap diet - not sure it helps as much, but do feel better. Been dealing with this for about 7 months.
