My doctor recommended Tramadol after TKR instead of oxy, well I tried Tramadol and hated it . I felt so drugged and just off , also it did nothing for the pain. I found using oxy only as prescribed is what helped me. I used the Tramadol for 4 days and boy did it make me feel off. I stopped right then and there, I told doctor I wanted the oxy and thank god I did and he listened

I had a TKR in 2019 and I still have left leg issues of numbness and zingers once in awhile. I have been on Tramadol since then, having had oxy, hydro directly after surgery. ( my surgery had many complications including infection) I am now on tramadol, Tylenol, Gabapentin, and Cymbalta for my TKR, arthritis in my other knee and scoliosis, spinal stenosis and disc degeneration. My “Pain Doc” is trying now to wean me off Tramadol; it is a Schedule 4 drug here in Wisconsin , a synthetic opioid if you will. I do feel normal and almost painless taking it, but if I miss a dose I really feel it in the pain department. I am what they term “dependent “ not addicted. I understand there will be a non opioid drug to replace the Tramadol. I hope this helps clarify it for someone.
