Thank you for sharing this. We will definitely be getting the Mayo involved soon. We are just trying to decide if we delay the biopsy already scheduled by switching now or let his current urologist perform the biopsy and then involve Mayo at that point by having them also review and switch care to Mayo. It’s so hard to think about delaying given his 4k results. At the same time I lost a cousin to pancreatic cancer when he wasn’t diagnosed until stage 4 because his primary care team misdiagnosed and performed a bad biopsy. Such a hard decision.
I am glad you ultimately got into the right hands are are getting the care you need. Best of luck with your continued treatment ❤️❤️.
Both Rochester and Phoenix have Proton Radiation Treatment. Jacksonville Mayo does not. Limited research on proton versus photon but proton limits additional exposure to radiation damage to surrounding tissues and organs. There is little to no exit radiation beyond prostrate.
You are fortunate to be in Phoenix Mayo as they do have proton there. My advice is to do a lot of research with a lot of sources. NIH, American Cancer Society, Clevland Clinic, Mayo, John Hopkins, WED MD. You will get a lot of information and better understand the options and pros and cons of each. It is important to be a informed patient and don't be afraid to asked question and get second opinions.
Mayo is the best and Phoenix is a beautiful city to be in ( I now live on the ocean north of LA but I lived in Phoenix for over 50 years). We are the same age and I also have an aggressive high risk PC. They have so many types of treatment now and it will get better. I hope that we both have a very long journey and a very good life. When we were younger and in better health we all squandered a lot of time. It is now time to make the best of our remaining time. Best of Luck to you!
