I feel for you! I have a constant red, irritated sore throat from nebulizing 7%. I started with 3% but had no results (this was almost 13 years ago). I stopped my breathing treatments for a long time because I was an almost non-productive cougher. But my NJH doctor was concerned about the sputum collecting in my lungs so I've been using 7% once a day for a couple of years. I tried twice a day and simply couldn't tolerate the sore throat and burning in my chest. Immediately upon finishing my breathing treatment I drink some G2 or water and have a small bite of something to eat. It seems to help some. If the irritation is really bad I suck on one of my prescription "lollipops" for 20 seconds (any longer than that is not recommended). My ENT prescribed them through a compounding lab. The med is Tetracaine HCL 0.5%. It numbs the back of my throat for a little while and calms things down. I hope it helps to know you're not alone in this. Until I found this website I felt like no one ever had the problems I have with this disease. There is so much comfort in sharing...so thanks, you've helped me today!

When I have irritation of my throat from nebbing or whatever I take 1/3 - 1/2 teaspoons of Manuka honey. It is a little pricey but does a good job. I've decided I'm worth it. Also try using half 3% and half 7% to give yourself a break. My pulmonary doc does not believe 7% is better than 3% and won't give me an Rx for it. I'm going to order 7% from some supplier without Rx as it does seem to do well for out condition as indicated from our MAC folks. Good luck.
