I went to an inpatient hospital for something else. I spent 20 days due to internal bleeding. While in the hospital I had given them my current prescription list when I arrived.

Well the hospital lost my list so they used a 3 year old list from a previous visit on their computer . I was not on Klonopin during that time. So when they gave me my meds according to the old list they did not give me my Clonazapan (benzo).
I take 0.5 mg in the morning along with other Psyche meds. I take 1 mg at 4:00 PM.

The hospital refused to give me any klonopin by stopping it abruptly cold turkey. They did this for 20 days. I have been on it going on 3 years. As expected, not giving me my benzodiazepine for 20 days turned into severe withdrawal symptoms. It was nightmarish and turned me into an extremely aggressive and irritated person.

I wanted to die that’s how bad it got. I pleaded with the nurses to contact the doctor to give me my klonopin. Nope, didn’t happen. Instead he gave me another benzo (adavan).

While adavan took some of the edge off. I was told it would be a 1mg tablet every 24 hours! Totally unacceptable. So the doctor said 1 mg every 12 hours. It didn’t go well. To say that I suffered is an understatement. I begged and begged for klonopin every day without success.
I returned home after 20 days and I took a 1 mg of klonopin .
Within 20 minutes I was back to my old self. A benzodiazepine addict but severe withdrawal symptoms were gone and I have been on klonopin since coming home 3 months ago.
Benzodiazepine is a dangerous drug. Wether it’s Xanax, lorazepam, (adavan) Clonazapan ( klonopin) and others I may not be aware of.

Even though they come with black box warnings, they should be taken off the pharmacy shelves and taken off the formulary lists of insurance providers. I don’t think I can even wean off it. By the way. This is my 3rd post regarding benzodiazepines. I’m all over these comments. Sorry if I repeated myself but this benzodiazepine issue is not something to take lightly.
