I was told I had a Fistula
Has anyone had surgery to close a Fistula? How did it go? Repaired? How are you doing now?

I had a fissure a few years ago. Was prescribed a compound topical ointment of Nitro glycerin and petroleum--use generous amount inside and outside rectum twice daily. It was slow to heal but I've not had any recurrence. Good luck and be patient.
Thanks for the information, but my fistula is inside my stomach area and told it's leaking into my stomach. I'm not sure the pain is from it, or from the diverticulitis in my colon. But, I'm hoping it closes by itself and not have to get surgery. Would like to hear from others who have/had similar problem.
Had IBS symptoms . Had before Morning BM watery clear odorless discharge size of quarter come on underwear before gas or BM. NO blood, no pain , a lot of gas... what is this and why only in morning and not all the time
Fissures and Fistulas are 2 very different things. Fissure is a actual tearing of the skin or a split which can heal on its own only requiring surgery sometimes. A Fistula is a tube like opening or connection between two organs. It often will need surgery to repair.
I had it really bad. The doctor said it was because of my age. I couldn't believe that so researched Online. Changed my diet. Don't know if it connected, but now I have Diverticulitis and a Fistula. I am putting my cooked food into the blender and eating my food as soup. So far, so good. Any other ideas?
You had a watery discharge? Have diverticulosis too. The doctor said the watery discharge was your age?.. confused . This is my husband... He has no blood, no pain just constipation and sometimes watery BM. He is also hypothyroidism... I have him on probiotics..... This started from eating a lot of beef jerky.. started with issues then in April.. this watery discharge happens in am before a bm and not every time. He went over a week and now has had it 3 days in the morning
I was told I had a fistula, was operated on but I did not have a fistula. Was told I had diverticulitis, and had 6 inches of my colon removed. Am doing very well now. It’s been over a year. Only thing now is I have to drink a lot of water, and eat more fiber. Hope you can avoid surgery but, if not, do not fret.

Ooops, doctor said Fistula was leading from my stomach into my gall bladder. That sounds even worse. I'm panicking.
