My surgery was 18 months ago and I have had no rectal discharge in all that time. Yesterday twice there was a watery discharge. I am now wearing a pad, Is this a common occurance? Should I see my surgeon?
I have copious mucus from my rectal stump since immediately after my sigmoid colostomy surgery. The remaining colon, rectum and anus continues to produce mucus. I have to flush out the mucus with small water enemas every other day which is very painful for me.
I had rectal discharge resulting for a staple falling off and the sphinxter was discharging fluids into my adomen, which formed an abscess and the liquid then would eventally pass out through the rectom
New colostomy within last month. Experiencing pressure and burning sensation in rectum. No discharge. This is an intermittent pain. Have tried applying heat to relieve, and using bidet to have warmer water
Any similar experiences, and suggestions welcomed.
About to undergo 6 courses of chemo so wanting any advice pre treatment.....
I've had heavy rectal discharge for almost a year since my ileostomy surgery. I have heard that some patients do not experience that but unfortunately I do. But your experience sounds much different than mine. It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to go see your provider. In the meantime, I recommend the B-Sure anal leakage pads; though they are expensive, they are very comfortable and absorbent. I hope this helps, or at least puts you somewhat at ease. God Bless!

I am having rectal area pain (rectum removed) for several years now. I have not found any solutions eliminating or even reducing the pain. Hope you have better results than I have experienced.
Medication, exercise (which actually exasperated the pain). The doctor will be increasing the Cymbalta dosage shortly
Had emergency colostomy 12.21
Rectal leakage with no help or suggestions
I have has that for 10 years from an emergency operation leaving me an ileostomy. My surgeon had no problem with it.
Welcome @rom1, I’m sorry to hear that you are still dealing with rectal leakage with no resolution.

I do have a small mass between my bladder and rectum that will need to be surgically removed following chemo treatments that start this week
That may be the source of the pressure as it comes on mainly when I urinate it the colostomy starts to work re it’s normal function
I was seeking any advice re relief from the burning. As mentioned no discharge so any burning remedies appreciated
