I have a 5cm simple real cyst is this large and is it something to be worried about

I don't know if 5 cm is considered large, but a simple renal cyst is nothing to worry about according to the doctors I've seen. I have a complex renal cyst and I go for an ultrasound every year. The doctor told me half of people over age 50 have renal cysts and they're no big deal.

Are you in pain. I was found to have a cyst on my left kidney last year because I felt.pain. My family has polycystic kidney disease running thru ,4mm generations but I have only one cyst thus far. Doctor did nothing so far.

Are you in pain. I was found to have a cyst on my left kidney last year because I felt.pain. My family has polycystic kidney disease running thru ,4mm generations but I have only one cyst thus far. Doctor did nothing so far.

No, no pain or any other symptoms other than trace amount of blood in my urine a couple years ago.

I have not seen blood in my urine but have pain just below the rib cage

Just got back from urologist office said the 5cm renal cyst is not pressing against any other organ do not worry about it. All other test came back ok. Thanks for all the concerns and updates. We serve an awesome God who watches over us all.

Sounds like an excellent CT scan report! Does your doc want to follow up on your 5cm renal cyst each year with an ultrasound or is he satisfied that "all is well"?

I think it depends on the area of thhe cyst, if it's near a duct you could feel pain.
