Twitching and fatigue
In fall 2021, I started having a small twitch in my right calf. Within a day, it spread to my entire calf and within 3 days it spread to my left leg. A week after that, I began having occasional twitching in the back of my arms, around my knees, back, just random spots. Those only last for a few seconds. The twitching in my legs is non stop while at rest. I don’t notice anything while I’m up moving. My thoughts have a feeling of heaviness and almost like they’re tired. My left shoulder feels really fatigued and uncomfortable. I have no loss of strength, coordination, or muscle. In the last 3-4 months, I’ve developed severe fatigue overall with brain fog. There are days it’s all I can do to get out of bed and get through work. I come home from work and try to sleep. I had several rounds of labs done, thyroid level was high and a severe vitamin D deficiency. Both of these have been corrected and are within their proper range. Chiropractor has ensured that my spine, shoulder, and hips are correct. I have an appointment with neuro this week. I’m looking for any advice or things to look out for.

Hi there. Are your “twitches” painful? Are you diabetic?
@alyxed The symptoms you describe must be so puzzling and making you very nervous. Good for you that you have followed up with your doctor. My advice is what I do when I go for a medical appointment. I write down my symptoms and my questions ahead of time. I also write down all the tests and labs I think are relevant and ask the medical provider if they have those and have looked at them. I take notes during the appointment. I also take someone with me to my appointments as another set of "ears" is very helpful. When I really nervous about my appointment I know I'm not "hearing" everything and I don't want to miss anything.
What day is your appointment with the neurologist?
Hello @micheleabbagnaro and welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. I wonder if you are also experiencing painful twitching like @alyxed who started this discussion?
The twitching is not painful, just irritating. I am not diabetic.
I was able to visit my neurologist this past week. Their impression is that I have S1 radiculopathy. I also visited my chiropractor following the results of my nerve study/EMG. We’re still unsure what is leading to my fatigue and shoulder issues. Once we resolve my S1 alignment, I plan to have my shoulder looked at in-depth.
Hi there.
Just wondering if you have an update on anything that you found out about your symptoms. I am experiencing something quite similar and have had a multitude of tests, all of which come up clear.
I hope you’ve been able to resolve your issues.
Thanks for your time
Ryan
Hello!
I had a few months ago revealing severe bulging on my s1-l5 and l5-l4 discs. My doctor is very confused on how my discs are like this but I have no pain. I’m continually visiting the chiropractor and finding other things that are slowly helping my issue.
Best wishes to you and hope you find an answer.
I had an MRI performed a few months ago, apologies for the typo at the start.
In consideration of your fatigue, have you had a complete physical by your PCP lately? Have you had a routine blood work up lately? Glad you have no pain and wondering if you exercise if since you’re seeing a chiropractor too?
