I sometimes have numbness in the hand or arm when I first wake up. Mostly for me it's caused by sleeping with my arm in an awkward position. Sometimes it wakes me up and I roll over then it goes away. More info here - Ulnar Nerve Entrapment at the Elbow (Cubital Tunnel Syndrome): https://orthoinfo.aaos.org/en/diseases--conditions/ulnar-nerve-entrapment-at-the-elbow-cubital-tunnel-syndrome/.

Compressed nerves can do some funny things, well not really funny but weird.

I had carpal tunnel develop before PMR. It coincided with
some arthritic neck pain which led to delayed diagnosis by a neurosurgeon. I was hiking with a sports medicine friend
who told me I had carpal tunnel and sent me for an EMG.
Elected open surgery with good results. After PMR discovered new incomplete heart block and lazy vagal syncope.
Now dealing with psoriatic arthritis . It is all likely related
to smoldering autoimmune inflammation. I have several
fine doctors caring for me and My Chart is helpful for
continuity and communication. They are all pulling for me
to keep golfing twice a week with my retirement guys.
