I had carpal tunnel surgery about 20 years ago which was a complete success. Then last year I came down with PMR along with it came a resurgence of my carpal tunnel same hand. It reacted as yours does, pain in morning then recedes as the day wears on. Seems this is what PMR does too. Morning we are inflamed and your carpal tunnel acts up then as the day proceeds the inflammation pressure comes off the wrist resulting in no pain. My surgeon said it was the fact my wrist was close to needing surgery again and any inflammation would put pressure on the wrist. After a second surgery a few months ago and all is fine again.
An ulna nerve infringement affects your little finger and half your finger next to it longitudinally. Had that surgery too.
I sometimes have numbness in the hand or arm when I first wake up. Mostly for me it's caused by sleeping with my arm in an awkward position. Sometimes it wakes me up and I roll over then it goes away. Compressed nerves can do some funny things, well not really funny but weird.
