Hello @bruce1951vet, Welcome to Connect. I also have PMR but it's currently in remission. Both times I was started at 20 mg prednisone but the only tests I had were CRP and ESR. Hopefully others with PMR who have also had a parathyroid hormone test can share experience. There is another discussion you may want to join to learn what others have shared on treating high levels of PTH.

Here is some information from Mayo Clinic on possible causes:
"What is the most common cause of elevated PTH?
If your kidneys work poorly, usable vitamin D may decrease and calcium levels drop. This causes parathyroid hormone levels to go up. Chronic kidney failure is the most common cause of secondary hyperparathyroidism."

Hello johnbishop, Thanks for the welcome. I have an appointment with a Endocrinologist to discuss the high levels of PTH. The high levels of PTH were caught at my annual VA visit, and they recommended a Endocrinologist. Thanks for the other information you shared!
