Thanks for your response!
I’m in the same boat as you.
I have had 15 years of trying to figure out how my insides work. More than one issue. There were a couple of years before the pandemic when I had hopes.
I’m also aware of what I have to do if nothing works- ileostomy.
I still get some help from Amitiza, Motegrity and senna.
I also have to try to control SIBO, always there. The bacterial overgrowth slows everything down.
Each person with this problem responds differently to all the medications we try. I think that’s also why some doctors throw their hands up.
What worked years ago doesn’t work now. It’s a trial and error.
Of course I now have to focus on getting a new aortic valve so I can function again. I’ll see my new GI again in July. I’ll try to get help controlling SIBO.
Keep posting!

@astaingegerdm,

Thank you for your reply.
18 months ago my PCP was sure he could solve this. He could not and did not. I felt from the beginning that I would have to direct my care and I have with the help of my wonderful wife who is an RN. Retired from school nursing. She has seen many colostomies.
I really feel the medical system and my body have let me down.
I went from being a happy guy to one that basically lives day to day.
I really think my CR surgeon could find the “smoking bullet” in my bowel. She is a gifted surgeon and has tried to do that. So perhaps maybe a ileostomy is the final thing regarding GI?
She has seen a lot of bowels so I trust her judgement.
I guess we see.
I to have aortic regurgitation but it seems to be stable. Kinda feel like an old car that needs a lot of replacement parts!

Enjoy your weekend.
