I don't think I said a faith in God is necessary!🙂 Just that I think it is for me, because I feel a tug towards it.

The Jews I know are secular, and as you say, adhere to the principles - one of them, a dear friend, devoted much of his time to helping others - indeed he helped one elderly person who others shunned due to her temperament.
