I'm sure each person has different reactions to radiation depending on the size and placement of their tumor. Radiation has come a long ways since years ago when much too strong a dose was given. I was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer in July 2022. My tumor was large, in my left lung, and nestled up against the esophagus.
The location of the tumor and its size did cause me distress during my treatments. The doctors however are amazing at recommending help to alleviate side effects. I got through the treatments without any lasting problems. The radiation also did not cause any burning of my skin. I used one of the many topical products products they had recommended. Since your tumor is small and in the lower part of the lung, you may not have any side effects. The best person to ask questions of is your radiation oncologist and their care team. I wish you all the best. Vickie

I have a loafs tumor on my left lung as well as my lymph node in my esophagus area. Slot if pressure. I start my first Chemo/radiation in about 5 minutes. They diagnosed me with stage 3B N2Mo

Thank you for your reply. Happy to hear you are on the mend. God bless you
