Drugs or exercise and vitamins?

If DEXA's are under -3.5, I read, meds really are needed. maybe even higher depending on other factors like bone quality, age , diet, exercise - and fractures.

I am the point, after a few fractures, where I would tolerate serious side effects versus any more fractures. But there have been meds that I simply could not take. I am grateful to tolerate Tymlos at a partial dose with excellent gains. My doc okayed ramping up from low dose to 7/8 dose (the highest I can go) which made all the difference.

Osteoporosis has no symptoms and I felt so strong before fracturing. I just made a mistake in how I moved. I try not to focus on pain or complain, but the truth, is the pain and limitations from my fractures are far worse than side effects from my meds!

Now I have to take Reclast but I am scared due to low kidney eGFR. My doc will do a 20% test dose and leave the next dose up to me.

If you are scared of meds but really need them, work with your doc or find another one who will work with you in a flexible way that leaves your feeling safe.

Really appreciate your input! I’m sorry you have had to deal with the fractures and that is exactly why I am scared to not take it. However, I have heard the same came happen later in life from taking the meds. My head is just spinning. I definitely don’t want to deal with fractures! My last DEXA scan was -2.5 in my left hip. I have increased my exercise and have been doing the calcium and vitamin D just not sure that is enough. Thank you again and God bless.
