@mcdora It’s never easy to choose elective surgery unless you are truly miserable and in intolerable pain. I think in your case you have to decide if the pain and instability is bad enough to make surgery an option that you want to choose. I think choosing surgery is also easier when you are very confident and comfortable with the surgeon.
Four months gives you a good amount of time to make a decision.

Hi @mcdora - first, welcome to Connect! Lots of great people here who are caring and willing to share experience. I know this must be scary and frustrating since the doctor is recommending more surgery. When you talk about having an anterior approach, is this a hip replacement? I've only had a knee replacement and I don't have any experience with stem replacement.
