@ittybit2016 I have had both hips replaced. The first one in 2012 was screwed up really bad by the surgeon. The 2nd one was in 2015 by a different surgeon and it was good for almost two years but then one morning I woke up screaming in pain. I went to the ER and I was septic. I had a very bad infection in the hip. They did a CT scan and it showed all this fluid in the hip area. The surgeon said he had to operate again and remove the hip clean out the fluid and put in a spacer. Everything would be fine. I'd be on powerful antibiotics for 7.5 weeks. Well 2 weeks later I was back in the hospital with a horrible pain. Again the spacer was infected. Another surgery. By this time I'm pretty upset and scared. He removed the spacer. He said the infection was in the femur now and he took away about 2 inches. At this point I'm angry I have no joint at all. I had a drainage tube for 3 months and antibiotics as well but still got infection. By the 4th surgery in 6 months I've really had it. I'm tired of surgery and it's hard to keep coming back from it. My surgeon said if I could go 4 months without infection he would put in another hip. I told him if I can live without it I'd rather not go through anymore surgery. He said I'd be in a wheelchair since the other hip was so screwed up I can't use that leg to help me. That was 5 months ago and I haven't gotten anymore infection but I can't walk at all. If I try to the pain is terrible and it feels like the bones are grinding together. If you or anyone else have any thoughts I'd appreciate hearing from you.
