Medicare B coverage of Evenity

"IF" you are being treated at a doctor's office. Not all doctor give these shots. Mine referred me to an infusion center.

Yes an infusion center is still a medical office so is covered.

That has been my experience also. Traditional Medicare and my AARP supplemental ( ( covers the 20%) has served me very well. Once $240.00 deductible at first doc visit of the year and DONE! No copays no need for referral. I call any doc , who takes Medicare ( ALL of mine do… never had to switch docs) and make my own appointment…. NATIONALLY … it’s federal and therefore no network constraints.

Beware on Advantage programs… not every MEDICARE doc takes Medicare advantage.

I hope you continue to have good care. Healthcare should not be for-profit businesses because their profits outweigh their commitment to care. I am very healthy at 72 other than having mild osteoporosis and my husband and I have relatively high income/savings so we are charged higher rates, but still very low. I’ll never get Medicare Advantage. Period.

This has been troubling me so I just confirmed that I had seen the list price being around $2400 each month. Not $8000.

Anjalima, I also have traditional Medicare and AARP UHG supplement. I'm a bit confused. Does Medicare part B cover the osteo med Evenity and/or just the doctor visits and injections? I thought part d covers the osteo med, which is also dependent on which part d drug company you select.

You are correct. Part D covers meds but I’m under the impression that if a med is infused or injectable in a doctors office (vs. oral or self injectable) I believe it’s covered by Part B ;Part A if in a hospital. It’s definitely confusing. Ultimately you have to check these big ticket items with your Medicare representative.

I was told by UHC/AARP that Evenity would be fully covered by Medicare and Medigap because of the plan I am on.

My Medicare Advantage Plan said that with Medicare B, I pay 20%. I am going to look into Evenity after Tymlos, but for 3-4 months. Dr. Keith McCormick wrote in his new book "Great Bones" that those first months are when it is most effective. Check on this with your own doc of course.

When I investigated the cost of Evenity, I found that it was approximately $2200-2300 per month. I live in Southern California and I don’t know if the cost of medications varies from state to state.
