I had anterior hip replacement three months ago. Many different pains and phases. But better than arthritis pain. However, two months into surgery I started getting these horrible sharp pains on my right thigh - upper, femur area. Excruciating! I saw my surgeon and he told me it was part of the healing process. I took on a vigorous walking regime (yes, with my cane). Within two weeks the pain was gone and has not returned. I don't know why but I am keeping myself moving at all costs.

Hi @laura1956 - My home physical therapist had me walking outside to the end of my block 10 days after surgery. After that, I went a little further each day until I was doing a nice long walk each morning. I agree with you that it helps the healing. Keep moving! You are doing great.
