I found this site looking for anyone that is dealing with my issue. I have had both hips replaced. Left one is over 5 years old. Right one is 16 months post surgery. They both seem to be great. I can live life normally. I even played some low intensity basketball this morning.

I have very intense pain in the middle of each thigh after standing in a relaxed position. I am right handed. So, after my left hip replacement my relaxed stance had the majority of weight on my right leg. I was pain free for those 4 years. After the right replacement I began getting intense sharp pain mid thigh after standing in a relaxed (weight on my right leg) position. So, I consciously change my relaxed stance so my left leg would carry the majority of weight. After a short period I have the same intense sharp pain in whichever leg carries the majority of weight as I stand relaxes. The pain only lasts a few seconds but intense enough to make me grit my teeth or groan in pain. I can do OK when I evenly distribute my weight. However, you may be surprised how often we stand unevenly. Household chores like cooking or washing dishes usually include me adding a few choice words from the intense sharp pain.

Anyone experience anything like this? I have tried to exercise and stretch hoping to work through it. Nothing seems to help. My first thought was scare tissue being torn in the thigh muscle but I haven't been able to eliminate it.

Thanks for your thoughts.

I have found some help with a massage therapist.
