@marthaellen

hello all of you, have read all the posts on the hip surgery and am frightened to go ahead with THR, tho 5 physicians now say that is what is needed, tho reading everyone's posts, this surgery seems to be replacing one pain, for MORE pain and suffering! Seems a shame to me that my thigh bone , good bone, will be cut off at top, then a replacement socket installed all just to replace cartilage that is non existent, if they can do all that cutting and cementing, why can not there be cartilage replacement? Isn't missing cartilage the issue? I am so empathetic for ya'lls suffering, and the thoughts you must have on fixing the issue, more pain, more meds, more attempting to recover, plus your physicians will take NO accountability for what they have done. Perhaps checking into the type of implant could answer questions? I did have bone marrow transplant at Mayo but the procedure did not help. Am 71 years old, so age may have been the cause thanks for reading, Martha

Marthaellen Thanks I have written so many times about finding out what the implant is made of In the 60,s the Dr used titanium implant now someone said they use cobalt??? Why?

Marthaellen, I also read all the posts on hip and knee replacement! My sister who is 70 had her TKR in March, had to be on wheel chair for 3 months because one of the screw shattered one of her bone during surgery! She is so scared now to do the other knee! Could it be the skill of the surgeon that some people have absolutely no problems and some people are worst off before the TKR?

Maybe a good start would be to investigate what the implant , as lioness suggested , is made of and do some research into what problems ,if any, these particular metals have.....Beryl
