@frister Did you not get a card explaining the various parts and serial numbers of the implant? I got mine on the day of discharge. I think mine might be uncemented but would have to check the card...put it somewhere safe and can't find it. I think you should be able to get the info from the surgeon. I have had cellulitis twice, which apparently makes you more susceptible to further episodes. I was also informed that any skin puncture can be a source of infection. The surgeon I saw yesterday said that loosening could also be something to think about. One thing to consider is that when they are cutting through all those muscles, tendons, etc., they may cut something that may not show on our scans. We know our bodies and the way they react...doctors don't. I feel a lot of people are afraid to stand up to their surgeon because they feel intimidated.

Hi this is Lioness I helped the Orthopedic Dr on lots of hip replacements this was in the late 60,s we used titanium replacements not cobalt as I hear now people have said they have terrible body itchiness ,loosening The procedure the Dr used was the implant is put into the femur bone then the hip ball where needed we never had any problems of loosened hip or body itchiness Before surgery find out what the replacement is made of?
