Dry mouth can lead to dental problems, so it is important to manage that. I use the Oral B Dry Mouth wash (no alcohol; xylitol is anti-bacterial) for several hours of relief. I do brush my teeth twice daily, particularly before bed. Waterpik is also useful. For daytime, I use biotene spray, lozenges or sugar free hard candy. I get a dental exam and cleaning every six months, to keep repercussions at bay.

I make sure I take good care of my teeth as well. Cleaning every 6 months, no cavaties! Thank you for your input!!

Hi,
I feel sure my dry mouth is coming from my prescription drugs.
I also have a "heady" feeling all day long, I think from drugs...all blood pressure related.
My Doctor is great if you have no issues. When I asked her today to please refer me to someone if she could not help me...and she turned back to the "counter top to write a prescription and said the "F" word!! I'm still in shock!! Here we go, got to found a better Doctor...mine before was GREAT...but she retired!! Any ideas how to do this?

@marye2 -- Glad to learn about Oral B Dry Mouth wash. Thank you.

You've got this down! You're right about dental problems -- wish someone had told me a decade ago when I had to start using a CPAP machine. Saliva is antibacterial. When we don't have it because our mouths are dry from meds or CPAP or whatever, we're likely to get cavities.

Standard solution is, as you said: Xylitol. It's a fake sugar! But supposedly "medical grade" fake sugar. My dentist's office said no harm to teeth.

I tried Biotene gel but didn't like that, so I use XyliMelts, which are smallish disc-shaped lozenges that (sorta) adhere to your mouth below your teeth -- in the back of your mouth, ideally -- if you hold the lozenge there to the count of 10, so the back of it melts and adheres.

Recommendation: Try 2-3 different brands and kinds or products to see which you prefer.
