@bobbielafleur

I had left total hip replacement anterior approach 3 years ago. Within 4 months, I had 2 dislocations and a revision was done. Last year I had right hip replacement and fortunately no dislocation. But the last 6 months I’ve suffered with horrible thigh pain with it being a lot worse on left. After going through 3 surgeries, I have put this off as long as possible but decided tomorrow I’m calling to get in ASAP with my surgeon. I need answers! A part of me is a little excited to find that others are experiencing the same problem but I haven’t come across anyone that has received answers as to the cause. This is horrible and excruciating pain that changes your daily life. There has to be a solution and I’m saying lots of prayers that we all find one very soon. Good luck to everyone!

I think when we give the symptoms to the Dr,, they know exactly what it is,, but will not admit to what it is. If its something they did,, they are afraid of being sued.. I told mine exactly that,, and said,, after 23 years of doing this,, you should know what it is.

@bobbielafleur --when you say dislocations,, are you meaning the fixture is loosening .. was it cemented in? I didnt know there was some "NOT" cemented till I came here.. I hope you get some answers.. Prayers for you .. good luck and yes this pain is horrible..

I’ve never heard of it not being cemented either until I read it here. I don’t know of another method used.
After my first hip replacement, a couple of weeks after being discharged from physical therapy, with no warning, the ball popped out of the socket which caused me to fall on it. I have to say that was the worst pain I’ve ever felt in my life. The least bit of movement was excruciating so getting on a stretcher and the ride was absolutely horrible. The X-rays were unbelievable showing my femur (ball end of stem) jammed up the side of hip socket due to the force and angle of fall. They sedated me, popped it back in place, had to wear full leg boot, and go through therapy again. Couple months later, it happened again. This time I had to stay in traction for a week just to hold it in place while decisions were made, adjustments figured out, and new hardware was ordered to do a complete revision. Go through therapy yet again. Even after this long, I’m still very paranoid it happens again. Then about a year ago I had my right hip done. I have an appt to go in a couple days so I’m praying big time for answers to this thigh pain. Someone on this thread mentioned injections. I’ll try anything not to have another procedure done.
My phone isn’t allowing me to flip to previous pages to read your initial post. What all have you tried to ease your pain and what worked the best for you? What does your doctor recommend?
