Hi! My name is Susan and I had a left total hip done about 6 years ago and never have had any problems. This past January, I had my right hip done with problems from day one. Pain very excruciating and with several visits to my surgeon. He told me that I had sciatica. I'm an RN, working on a neuroscience floor and I knew it wasn't sciatica. He did an x-ray and said everything looked great. I knew there was something wrong so I asked him for a second opinion. I had another surgeon from his practice see me. He looked at the x-ray taken a few weeks prior by the other surgeon. He said that I needed surgery ASAP as I had a fractured femur. So the following week I had a right hip revision. Everything was good until two weeks ago where I started having right thigh pain. This is now worsening where I need a cane. Now my groin is hurting. I did some grocery shopping today and I had the hardest time getting into my car to drive home. My thigh and groin hurt so badly I was crying. I finally got my leg in the car. I left the groceries in the car and made it to my bed. I have taken Motrin, Advil, Aleve, Excedrin Migraine. Nothing touches this pain. I'm almost afraid to call my surgeon because I'm afraid he's going to tell me that this is a normal condition post-op and just go home and rest. My husband is really concerned as well so I will make an appointment tomorrow. My problem with some doctors is that they don't listen to their patients. We know our body better than anyone, right? Well, I just needed to vent to people who are in the same boat as I am. I appreciate anyone listening. Thank you.

This seems to be a common complaint with hip replacement. I have had hip and thigh pain for 3 years. No one has been any help, they just give me exercises to do. I am not overweight and walk 30 to 60 minutes a day plus my exercises. X-rays and ultrasound show nothing.. Pain killers help,I am taking cannibus oil but docs refuse to give me a prescription so I get it wherever I can.
Hope you can get relief soon, mine is not so bad as yours I think but I get no help either.

Thank you for your reply @popolopo.

Torn labrum?

Oh dear, what a mess. It is so frustrating when I hear of success then it changes to serious life changing health issues. My xrays showed all hardware is good but these shooting pains down my femur almost make me cry. No escaping the pain, again! Good luck.
