I am 6 weeks post op for bilateral hip replacement. I was doing great up until about two weeks ago. I was able to walk without a cane or anything else. All of a sudden I am having excruciating pain in my left thigh. It feels muscular, but I've been reading that it could be the implant is loose. Nothing seems to help with the pain (Tylenol arthritis, tramadol, meloxicam) and I have to use a cane. My leg feels like it's going to give out at any minute. I don't really have pain when I'm sitting, just walking. Has anyone else had this happen?

Hi @lynnd1961
Welcome to Connect. I see that you found this existing discussion about thigh pain after hip replacement. I moved your other message with details of your situation here too. I did this to bring everyone talking about thigh pain post hip replacement surgery to one central place. Lynn I hope your surgeon will have an explanation and solution when you go for your appointment tomorrow. Will you let us know what you find out?

@melar1, any new developments with the pain in your thighs? I think that you said you're going to have a nerve test this June or see a neurologist. I bet Lynn would like to hear more about that.

Hi there! My doctor has ordered a CT scan for this afternoon to rule out a fracture where the implant is. He's also sending me for PT (which I did not have after surgery) for 4 weeks and wants me to go back to using my walker for two weeks to balance out the weight. Because I'm favoring my left leg, my hip on the right side is hurting and we don't want to risk anything happening to that. I should know the results of the CT scan tomorrow.

Those all sound like reasonable next steps. You must be relieved, a bit at least, that there are things you can do to help and to prevent further harm. Thanks for the update.

I have had a similar experience. I know that I have several issues; but part of my problem is due to my si joint not staying in place
