Monophasic synovial sarcoma

I'm tagging fellow members like @winter23 @tynerlisa @rgotto41 and @ellengrubb who also have experience with synovial sarcoma. I'm not sure which type however, monophasic or biphasic subtype.

I would assume that knowing that you have monophasic would lead to more specific and effective treatments. Have you asked your cancer team this question? It's a good question and I'd like to know too 🙂

I haven’t asked many questions, it happened very fast. I’m in remission after 3 treatments of AIM and 2 of just doxorubicin as of Oct 29. I’m just now getting well enough to even attempt to look this up and find out more info about it, I did look it up in the beginning but the prognosis didn’t look well and I was given 8 weeks to live at the time. So I tried to just focus on being healthy as I could. Now I’m curious because I’ve started reading about reoccurrence rates. Just so much I don’t understand.

Hi Emily- how are you? My son is 19 and was diagnosed with synovial sarcoma- “primary Renal synovial sarcoma” to be exact. It started on his kidney and progressed shockingly fast (spread to lymph nodes and lungs). I don’t know about Monophysite vs the other- but interested in hearing how you are. Starting on kidney is extremely rare so very interested to hear how you are and connect. He has completed 6 cycles of AIM and just had a new immunotherapy for this. AIM was brutal for him but he’s had an amazing response so far. We had opted not to hear a formal prognosis in terms of life expectancy- I too read some scary things but know that advances can and are being made quickly. A new immunotherapy has just come out for this too. XO
