@becsbuddy my neurologist is sending me for a sleep study to rule out narcolepsy.
I’m 73 years old so I’m not sure how I fit the profile for it, but my body is pretty strange…

I am 67. I have narcolepsy with cataplexy. But I've had all my adult but it wasn't diagnosed until 20 years. And the symptoms have changed as I've gotten older. I've seen little information with respect to this topic. I still take nearly the drugs I took in the beginning. Switched to xywav because it is lower in sodium. I have hypertension and migraines as well. I never sleep through the night. I sleep in two or three hours blocks then I'm awake and feel darn good. But it's 2am. So I read. I get sleep attacks. Times when I absolutely must sleep. Its not open for discussion. Because I take 400 mg of Modafinil I do not take naps. The nighttime sleep is a change with age I think. I haven't had cataplexy in years. It's just different now. The Modafinil actually works better now. I'm far less likely to drift into when watching a movie or in the car. So that's a bonus. But the nighttime stuff is more nerve racking. I get by on 5 hours of sleep on many days. That is certainly a bonus. But it's real. It stinks. And there's cure.
