Anyone use Mometasone cream for radiation side effect?

I was recommended to use not alcoholic cream or gel for a sunburn. I used Aloe gel. It helped me not to have any reaction from the radiation. My doctor said she will give a prescription steroid cream if I have a severe skin reaction, but I did not need it. I had an accelerated partial breast radiation for 5 days.

I like aloe gel and didn't even think of it. Nobody told me anything other than here is an RX for cream to use. I am going to have my second of 15 treatments today and have no issues as of yet. I will ask them if this cream has any prophylactic value. Thank you for your comment.

While in chemo, my mastectomy side developed very severe rash. My Dermotologist gave me this cream too plus topical antibiotic cream. They worked like wonder and the rash stopped after two days.

I was prescribed the cream for my 15 radiation sessions. I used the cream with Aquaphor (a vasaline based ointment to use on top of the mometasone cream). The Aquaphor stained a couple of my shirts, so I tried using saran wrap on top of the Aquaphor to minimize new stains.

I never had any irritation during my radiation - I also had 15 treatments of 267 centiGray for a total of 40.05 Gray - so I'm not sure if the strength of the radiation treatment has any impact on whether you'll have any irritation. I only had a browning of the underarm skin that started after treatment ended and I've been told that will slowly fade. I also don't know whether my skin tone had any impact on whether there was any irritation.

I'll say my radiation treatment was painless, just discomfort holding my arms above my head - I'd had bilateral about 3 months prior to radiation, so that caused discomfort with stretching only. I would grumble it took me almost 45 minutes to get to an appointment where I was in and out in about 10-15 minutes - that included time changing into and out of my clothes.

I started radiation treatment last week. The care team gave me a tube of Jeans cream which I use every morning after showering and after every treatment. Then I slather on Aquaphor at night (and if I wake up during the night, I slather on a bit more). I’ve only had 4 of 20 sessions so haven’t had any issues so far, but I’ve been told I should expect some skin reaction since I’m incredibly fair. Tbd how severe those will be.
