Diet for pre-diabetes
I am trying to find what foods are best to get my A1C lower than 5.8. I don’t want a weight problem.

I meant to say that I don’t have a weight problem.
Ketogenic diet took me from A1c 11 to 5.4 and I maintained that for 3-4 years. I have recently had to go off it due to a medication for my kidney health and I'm very worried about my next labs
We’re you on diabetes medication as a pre-diabetic. I am not taking anything yet. Does this diet makes you lose weight? I
When I was first diagnosed with pre-diabetes I ignored my doctor's Rx and advice. Bad.
Yes, you can lose weight on Keto, but don't go crazy on nuts and processed Keto snack alternatives. Also, get a glucose meter to check your before and 2hr post meal if you use Keto friendly breads. Not all are good
Thank you very much for answering my question.
A few youtubers to check out:
Beat Diabetes
Dr Eric Berg
Thomas Delour
The last two get into greater detail on clean Keto, where as Brat Diabetes focuses on simply low carb living
You may want to look into intermittent fasting, which is a technical way of saying eating a later breakfast and earlier dinner without nibbling before breakfast or after dinner. I am not a healthcare provider but have been following this and my HA1c is down to 5.0. I am taking Berberine 500mg TID (stopped both Metformin and Farxiga under medical guidance). There are some great books by Dr Jason Fung - Diaberes Code and Life in the Fasting Land - and Satchin Panda PhD - The Circadian Diabetes Code. Dr Fung has several videos up on youtube that you may want to check out.
Wishing you great health!

It’s great that you are planning to adjust your diet to your pre-diabetes diagnosis.
Here is a link to Mayo Clinic information on diabetic diet.

Just like @dextolen i started a keto like diet after I got my pre- diabetes diagnosis. I was quite overweight from being on corticosteroids on and off for years for an autoimmune illness. I had been treated with immunosuppressive medication and I was in remission.
All previous diets had failed. I started a keto like diet- my own version. I succeeded to lose 45 lbs over a year and my A1C went to normal. I avoided excessive amounts of carbohydrates- I loved bread. I ate lean proteins, fruits and vegetables.
You don’t need to be on a weight loss diet but with help from a dietician you will learn how to plan your meals and decide when you should eat your meals. You definitely will not go hungry.
Thank you very much I will look for it
