CALCIUM: All that I know is the
primary doctor had me back for two more blood tests because of the high calcium. They have told me nothing else yet. No numbers to go by. I quit taking the vitamin D when I got the first notice.
I was never told in the past that the supplement could be risky and I have been taking it for years.
High Vitamin D is not a bad thing. Mine is about 40-50.
I have a 14 yr old daughter. 2.5 years ago she was hospitalized for a 5.3 calcium and a 638 PTH she was 12 at the time. We have been working with an endocrinologist for two years but she does not want to take her medication we did get the calcium up to 9.5 and the PTH down to 228 in January 2023. We just did the blood work again today. She has not been taking her medicine calcium 7.7 PTH 386. She was diagnosed with para pseudo hypo parathyroidism 1B I understand this is an unusual diagnosis Mike she need surgery for her parathyroid?
My situation is the same. Everything normal other than PTH of 177, discovered accidentally in January 2020. My endocrinologist is monitoring blood and urine and said I may never need surgery to remove a gland. Have you had bone density test? That is important too.
