Pressure Bone Paine

Posted by judithclark @judithclark, Apr 29, 2023

I can’t seem to get a diagnosis for my bone pain while putting pressure on them. This is not in my fore arms or below the knees. I did have melanoma on my arm about 5 years ago and don’t know if this is related. Pain is really bad on my lower ribs making it difficult to wear a bra. No joint pain or arthritis.

Hi @judithclark, I've always had VERY sensitive ribs to touch. I just about passed out from the pain when my young son gave me a bear hug with his arms around my ribcage decades ago. I've had a chronic problem with costochondritis for decades. I always couldn't wait to get my bra off at night. It has improved in the past decade, maybe because I had a mastectomy and don't have a bra putting pressure on my ribs now. Maybe I do less physical activity to aggravate it. I also wonder if my hereditary neuropathy contributes to bone pain because my shins and other areas are also sensitive, but my ribs were always 20x worse. I was shocked in my 20s when I learned that no one else's ribs hurt to touch. I thought that was just a normal human body because ribs don't have much meat to protect them. Upper body exercise and stress always made my costochondritis even worse in my chest area, but the incredible pain there was more about movement and was different than that touch sensitivity of my lower ribs. Just a thought of a condition to look into. It's a harmless condition as felt as health impact, but miserable as far as pain and discomfort. I wonder if you wore something like a sports bra with a much wider band that doesn't dig into one spot if that might help??? Maybe a camisole bra? I should have tried all that. Best of luck to you.

Thank you for your insight and thoughts. I do wear a bra that is a couple of sizes too large. It does have a molded cup to help with the look. It also has a wide band but it keeps riding up as it is too large. All of my chest bones, upper arm bones and hip bones hurt to pressure. One doc said it was Fibromyalgia. I don’t think that is true as my joints are not effective. Another doc said it was.
costochondritis so had steroids injections that didn’t help at all. It could have something to do with adhesions from 5 abdominal surgeries. I now find that my cecum is now in that area when it should be in my lower right quadrant. No one seems to know.

Thyroid medicine did that to me.
