Hi Jeff,
I too was diagnosed with ACNES on my intercostal area..nerves 8-11 were isolated. The pain management doctor at UF Shands in Gainesville, Florida did 4 steroid blocks on both left and right side which lasted for approximately 2 months.
He was also doing 2 test blocks on both sides of my neck and last Monday the numbing medication went into other areas around the nerves in 2 areas the doctor was numbing and paralyzed my left arm, neck, head and partially right arm. I could not move my left arm or head for 5-6 hours. I was sent by ambulance to Shands ER for stroke follow up. Thank God all it turned out to be was the numbing medication seeped into areas it wasn't intended for.
Now my doctor is hesitant to do Radio Frequency Abalation on my intercostal area..saying my body is too sensitive to needles.
I live in Central Florida and have not found a surgeon that surgically severs the nerves.
What kind of surgeon did you find and where are you located? How were able to locate him?
I have had ACNES in my abdominal area for over 4 1/2 years. I am back to severe, debilitating pain since the steroid blocks wore off. I am only able to get up and move around for 15-20 minutes before the pain is so bad that I have to either sit or lay down.
Any information you could give me to find a surgeon would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Victoria Sarosy

Hi VLV,
I had abdominal cutaneous laparoscopic surgery (procedure) performed on 9/2/21 by Dr Thomas Gillespie, surgeon at St Joseph's Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ. Long story how I found be him but it was after an extensive search. Dr Gillespie severed my T8, T9 and T10 nerves. I walked out of the hospital that afternoon cured. He is an amazing caring physician. If you'd like to discuss further please private message me and we can set up a discussion. I have referred numerous patients to him with all being cured of this horrible painful syndrome.
