I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned all details: I got hit by a car when I was 14-15 yrs old, was on a motorcycle.. broke femur & flew thru car windshield head 1st..(late-mid 70s)…of course was unconscious…now days, that’s a red flag…not back then. I believe that’s what caused AVN in 1st place. Fast forward in ‘02 had 1st, 2nd in ‘04…6 wks after 2nd, had implant , BTW, both were sectioned. I was in PACU w/ 6 wk old post implant. Fast fwd 16 yrs…went in “LALA” Land. Was OUT OF IT. ‘’20 had rev. Post op report…
“At time of surgery, patient had significant fibrosis of synovial tissue of left hip with a caseating material from MOM hip articulation. Synovial fluid was tinged brown” ….
There is an effusion in left hip joint….Copious amounts of brown tinged fluid seen coming out of hip joint. Significant thickened synovial tissue that appeared like grated cheese in hip joint. Local synovial tissue was discolored.

This does not sound good especially since I’d had it for 16 yrs.
I’m at a loss as to what to do now. Can’t eat w/out significant gut pain & bloating…GI or Ortho?
No clue…the dr. that did rev left hospital soon after my procedure.

What about both? GI first, since eating is vital.
Then Ortho - find a doc who specializes in complex revisions. Imaging (beyond x-ray) will be needed to evaluate the current status. The description of your tissue at revision is characteristic of the metallosis issue, but that is gone now - all removed at surgery. So something else is going on - perhaps related to your earlier traumatic injury.
