Any hope for aggressive metastatic prostate cancer?
My husband, 60, just got an MRI report that stated aggressive metastatic prostate carcinoma >15 that spread to bladder and anus walls. We have an appointment with the urologist in 3 days. This feels so hopeless. Symptoms have been difficulty urinating mostly. PSA ranging 5-7 over the past month. IS THERE HOPE?

Yes, on hope. There is hope, and lots of it. Soon your husband's prostate cancer will be staged. From there, a treatment plan will be made. The Trauma from the moment of diagnosis will slowly subside but return. The "moment of diagnosis" is only a benchmark, a moment in time along the Stage IV Prostate Cancer Path.
Next, you'll enter your new life. The "living with cancer life" will slowly settle in. Treatments, medications, and doctor appointments will all be part of your new life. So will the friendship of other stage IV prostate cancer survivors. Certainty comes from hope.
There is hope. Many many men discover they have prostate cancer and metastases somewhere. New treatments are being approved all the time. I was diagnosed with prostate CA two years ago and metastases in five places and I feel great. I had two different reviews of my scans and bloodwork. Both specialists agreed with my treatments and I have confidence in my urologist and oncologist. Don’t lose hope, there are effective treatments out there.
Thank you for replying
I need to hear this
You have opened my eyes to something. So they can do radiation treatments on the bone? I had no idea. I always thought if it gets to the bone… I’m a gonner.
It is a treatment option. I had a dull pain in my L5 or sacrum (I am not sure which). Shortly after my 5 radiation treatments, the pain disappeared. I am getting a bone scan within a month to check things out.
Have stage IV prostate cancer, no insurance, scans last week demonstrated innumerable sclerotic foci lesions on my pelvis, spine and chest along with compression fractures of T8-T10. Seeing my oncologist next Tuesday. Feel like I am dying. Any hope or should I ride this out.
Thank you.
Often getting medication to slow the cancer down also works to eliminate or significantly reduce the pain. I hope you do not give up as there is pain management medication as well as meds to address the cancer. Best of luck to you and hang in there, There may not be a cure but the doctors know ways to make this cancer one that you can live with for a long time. Good luck!
2018 had 40 radiation 2020 it met to L2 Had intense radiation which blew it away Back on Zolodex and continue
Jan 23 started Xtandi as MRI and PET showed L1 had 1 minc ( too close to radiated ) and T 10 and T 11 small spots
