Hi, @mary1234 - I see that you've recently joined Mayo Clinic Connect, and I wanted to welcome you. Your posting here automatically adds you to those following this discussion on prolapse and notified about new posts.
I'm sorry to hear about the rectal prolapse. I have actually had rectal prolapse surgery personally. My bladder prolapse got very bad three years after my youngest son's delivery, such that it was interfering with walking (felt like I walked like a cowboy, due to protrusion), chafed when I exercised, bothered me when I sat and a host of other issues. I'd already done sling surgery before and knew from previous talks with the urogynecologist that a hysterectomy plus repairs was the likely answer. What I didn't expect to hear was that I had rectal prolapse. I was unaware of it. I guess I was a "dropped but not protruding" case.
So, I had this surgery in combination with the hysterectomy and repairing the bladder to the correct position.
